This week’s pretty wedding color palette comes from a lovely little photo of mini succulent favors! The use of succulents in weddings has become very popular. In bouquets, centerpieces and other decor… I love it all. When I saw these mini succulent favors in this wedding featured over on Ruffled Blog, I was immediately smitten.
Not only are the mini fabric covered planters adorable, the little name tag flags make these potted beauties extra special. I love how they look displayed all together, evenly spaced on a table with a stunning floral arrangement in the background! Very well done :)
On top of all that goodness, and the reason I’m posting these photos, the colors at this event are so perfectly coordinated! I’m head over heels for this pretty palette.

Succulents have always fascinated me. I can’t really say why exactly. But these lovely little water hoarding plants intrigue me. By definition, a succulent is: “any plant that stores water in its leaves, stems or roots allowing it to go for long periods of time without water.” And there’s your Botany lesson for the day. You may have noticed that succulents have become a popular choice for weddings today. They can be used in many of your wedding day details…bouquets, boutonnieres, favors, aisle decoration, invitations, wedding cake, centerpieces, tablescapes, etc. Here is some succulent eye candy for your inspiration…

There are some little antique doodads that I just can’t pass up buying no matter how useless they are in a modern house. For example egg cups. They are just the cutest little things, but how often are you going to actually make soft boiled eggs and sit there with your little spoon and act fancy at your kitchen table? I mean, maybe once in a blue moon, but not enough for me to justify my collection of them. I’ve since started to use mine as planters for those itty bitty potted succulents that I’m always buying. Plus, they would make truly adorable party or wedding favors.
What you’ll need:
- Egg cup
- a handful of pebbles
- small succulent
1. Bring along you egg cups to your local nursery to help gauge sizing. The smaller of my two succulents came in an 1 ½” pot.

2. Dropping several pebbles in the bottom of your cup adds layer for drainage, as there are no holes in the bottom. Gently remove your plants from their pots and loosen the roots. I separated one little succulent to plant in my smallest egg cup.

3. Carefully transplant your succulents into their respective cups, using the excess soil to pat down on top of the roots.

4. As there are no holes in the bottoms you will need to be extra sure to not over water, as overly wet roots will cause rot. Pots this small will dry out frequently, however, so a small watering once a week should do the trick. Succulents generally require bright sun and to be watered just as the soil has dried from the last watering.
